There are other materials carports can be made of, but metal is the best choice for an attached carport. Carports can be used to protect cars, boats, recreational vehicles or farm equipment,

A carport can be used at your home extended from your front door to offer not only protection for your vehicle, but can also be used as sun covering for an outdoor function, such as a picnic, graduation party or just a place to park the chairs while you watch the kids play in the yard. There are do it yourself kits that can be purchased if you are handy with tools, it may take a few days and an extra set of hands to help. Attached metal carports may need to meet local codes or standards sometimes that will require a zoning permit. When purchasing your kit, ask to have engineering specifications included, just in case. If you hire a contractor, they will take care of any special permits you may need.

You can also attach your carport to an existing garage to park your boat or recreational vehicle under. This is a great alternative to a monthly storage fee that can really add up. Custom size attached carports are available to fit any kind of vehicle. Some optional features are side wall panels, back wall panels, windows in the panels and the panels can also slide. Also, you can add a shed as an option to your attached carport. This can give you extra storage for lawn equipment or ATVs.

Farms owners utilize an attached metal carport for many reasons such as parking for tractors, other farm equipment, or to protect, and feed animals underneath. They can also be used as shade for additional work space and these are just a few of the under-mentioned assets for having a carport. Many other businesses also have started using this as a cost efficient way of adding space. There are many carport designs available to choose from as well different styles of roofs and colors to match your home. Solar panels can be used in metal carports to capture and harvest energy for lighting in your carport and home. An attached metal car port will be a great addition to your home, office or business no matter what you choose to use it for.

Carport Kits

Carports

General Information

aluminum carport

aluminum carport kits

car canopies

carport

carport kit

Carport Kits

metal carport kits

Prefabricated Carport

Prefabricated Carport Kits

rv coverings

wooden carport
<guid

Letting your motor home, RV, mobile office, or travel trailer exposed to outdoor elements will create a fast deterioration of your vehicles exterior and reduce its overall lifespan of functionality but it will also lower the overall value of your purchase too. An RV Carport is made to shield your vehicle from the elements like the sun which can cause discoloration, wind which can cause objects to fly and hit your vehicle, rain which can corrode the RV, ice and snow which can add to corrosion and make moving difficult and falling debris too. This kind of sheltering is crucial to extending the life of an expensive and valued purchase, and making life easier for when you do want to use it.

An RV carport can be customized by many resellers and dealers who sell carports to satisfy all of your desires for any styles, shapes, and dimensional needs you may have whether it is the width, height or length of your carport, they can make custom RV carport plans for you and spare you the hassle. The typical width for a RV motor home or carport covers can begin at 12 feet and go all the way up to 40 feet in length! The span of a carport is really only limited by how big you want to make it, and it can even be expanded to cover your whole motor home, travel trailers, and towing vehicles. The height of an RV carport will obviously depend on the general height of your RV vehicle. Be sure to have enough clearance for air conditioning devices and other roof-mounted accessories when deciding the real height for your RV carport, as you may want to add these on in the future.

The same strong and long lasting metal RV carports that you would use for RV’s can be used to also house travel trailers, motor homes, mobile offices, industrial and landscape equipment, tractors and other farm equipment and so much more. A metal RV carport is even functional for other uses besides a RVcarport cover like bus coverings, work trailer covers, ambulance vehicle covers, boating coverings or construction equipment coverings. You can find a complete selection of carports and coverings that will keep the items or equipment kept inside your vehicle much cooler during the hotter weather while preventing freeze during the colder months.

Steel Carport Kits

Carports

General Information

building a carport

carport

carport kit

Carport Kits

steel carport

steel carport kit

steel carport kits

steel carports
<guid

Along with folks who just need storage for their extra traveling vehicle or sporty cars, are now looking for reliable storage spaces for their vehicles and they’re not just settling for simple open air designs anymore as they want full coverage but at a reasonable price. This is where steel carport kits come into play, these carport kits are both affordable in an economy like this, plus because they come in kits made from steel, they are durable and long lasting.

Steel carport kits come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and generally they are the most affordable option among the many different options provided to customers and business owners, especially if you’re even moderately handy or capable at assembling anything. But also these kits will often be built on site by companies who specialize in these products, and often resellers and businesses selling these carports and carport kits will offer the service for a very reasonable fee. Most of these carport kits also come predesigned as do it yourself products which increase build time-which saves you not only time but money to if you’re a business or business owner, or even a busy home owner. But this kind of carport kit is also very user friendly and does not require a whole lot of specialized information or tools should you choose to build it yourself or with others.

Steel carport kits in particular are some of the best types of carport kits because unlike other materials, steel carports don’t degrade the way other materials do, they are heavy and will stay very locked into place if done correctly, and are extremely weather resistant as well so they are ideal for inhospitable weather conditions and locations. Some of these carports can even withstand hurricane force winds and earthquakes and are often guaranteed to do so and last, so steel is definitely the way to go when you’re building a carport. These require minimal maintenance when you finish assembling them, but always ask about warranties, guarantees, and what the carport is specifically designed to withstand before making your final purchase.

Wood Carports

Carports

carport

Carport Kits

carport project

treated pine

wood carport

wood carport design

wood carport kits

wood carports

wooden carports
<guid

For a professional carport assembler, wood is a very pliable and forgiving creative substance that allows for a large variety of different decorative looks and finishes that can create a plethora of different appearances and styles, so the possibilities are really endless for a professional carport builder who wants to flex his or her creative muscles. For the novice carport builder wood is a flexible, affordable, satisfying and easy material to work with, because you can always get a fresh piece of timber to correct your mistakes or changes you want to make.

Wood carports will more often than not win out over a typical metal carport based on its appearance hands down due to the personalized and old world craftsmanship of the medium to begin with, wooden carports tend to have a warmer and more personalized quality about them. Attractive posts and bindings along with classy looking facades can really add that extra bit of style and sophistication to a carport project. There are some specific types of woods with unique grain patterns and textures that would make the design of your carport stand out and raise the value of itself and the surrounding property. Like any house as well, there are a ton of different treatments and finishes available to make your carport look like an extension of your home through the use of similar paint and trimmings.

There are plenty of different wood types to choose from as well as different wood carport kits to choose from, but I advise picking soft wood like oregon wood or a treated pine timber. The reason is because they are often a lot easier to work with and shape, they tend to cut easier as well. Another reason is that these wood types also have the bonus of being durable and light weight if they are protected properly by a quality finishing like a good wood sealant or paint. One of the downsides you have to keep in mind though when dealing with wood carports is the overall size of the profile. It’s pretty typical to see 12 inch by 2 inch wooden beams spanned across a double carport length, and while this can be a real plus as a design feature it requires extra planning so it doesn’t look out of place. Wood carport design is one of the easiest and best ways to get into crafting your own carport whether you’re a novice or a professional.

RV Carport Kits are a Great Solution for RV Storage

Carports

General Information

carport

carport components

customized carport

rv carport

rv carport kit

rv carport kits
<guid

The most recent RV carports are made from materials that are extremely strong and long lasting such as steel. They also use fiberglass and additional synthetic materials in its construction that will withstand the very highest of outside pressure. When purchasing RV carport kits you should get a booklet that displays the image of a properly engineered drawing or schematic of the model that you will see set up once you have placed all the parts from the kit to their corresponding places.

Keep in mind if you are nervous about purchasing a RV carport instead of another storage solution that these parts have been thoroughly tested and vetted to withstand all the stress these carports could possibly encounter on a day to day basis. These carports have been specifically designed to withstand all sorts of stress and elemental wear and tear like a strong wind or frequent rain and snow, so you can rest assured that your RV carport won’t collapse or possibly damage your RV. The materials used for RV carport kits are incredibly durable and they more often than not come with very extensive warranties up to as long as 10 years, but always make sure to research this before making a purchase, and possibly consider an extension as well.

There are ton of different colors shapes and styles for you to choose from so I advise checking out different retailers and websites to see what suits you, and since the RV carport kits come in pieces you’ll be able to pick any of the carport components separately as well. By doing it this way you can assemble a customized carport and then build it to any size depending on your needs specifications. The great thing about RV carport kits is that they are great for allowing you to construct shades which can then be used for things like grain storage or other warehousing; really anything you feel might need a shade.

With RV carports you really can’t go wrong because there isn’t a vehicle type or size that is too large or awkwardly shaped for an RV carport because if a size can’t be found one can be custom made by any dealer or distributor. Keep in mind also that RV carports have become much more affordable and realistic for just about anyone in need of them especially if you are going to use RV carport kits instead of having everything prebuilt. You might find yourself surprised at just how easily you can have an attractive, usable and affordable storage for your treasured RV’s so you can keep them in optimal condition for future use.

Attached Carports

Carports

attached carport

Attached carports

carport

traditional carport
<guid

Attached carports are exactly what they sound like; these particular styles of carports are designed to be a convenient and cost effective addition to an existing building or home. So instead of taking up valuable space somewhere else on the property or avoiding what some may view as an eyesore, attached carports allow for a more visually appealing alternative to the traditional carport or expensive garage addition. They can also help increase the value of a home much more than a standalone carport could ever do.

Attached carports can be added to an existing building or unit such as an extension of a pre existing garage, or as a convenient attachment to a barn for giving shelter to expensive farming equipment, or even a simple shed, and of course the most common is the side of a home. These types of carports can allow for economical shelter for any sort of automobile or vehicles, as well as garden tractors, various styles and sizes of boats or any other equipment you simple lack the proper storage for. An attached carport is also very easy to assemble against the side of any given building whether it’s by yourself or with a few helping hands provided you have enough room and height below the current building eave.

While this isn’t a how to guide, if you intend to assemble an attached carport yourself I would advise you have some helping hands whether it be hired help or not, as many of these part are very heavy and unwieldy. If you can afford it thought I would advise having someone; ideally a professional, come take a look and give you an assessment for look, cost, and advisement before making any purchases or serious decisions. In addition to this, you should if possible, do some basic measurements yourself, even more so if you intend to do the work. For example, a standard carport dimension is 11 feet wide by 20 feet long, you very well may desire to construct yours longer or wider depending on your needs. Keep in mind though that anything shorter or narrower may not fit your car. The carport height has to be the same as the eaves of the roof that way the top of the carport will line up and fit exactly where it should.

Steel Carports

Carports

all steel carports

aluminum carport

carport

carport steel

steel carports

steel carports kits
<guid

Depending on your usage, steel carports are often the best choice, they are not the cheapest, in fact they are often the most expensive but they last the longest and ultimately provide the best value in the long run. Typically it is understood that carport steel is the best choice over aluminum carport material which often is a lot lighter and generally of cheaper quality due to being a thinner and weaker metal.

There are different types of steel as well but the key thing to look for in terms of carports is getting a carport made with galvanized steel. These carports are often much stronger and much more resistant to the elements as well and make for a better carport and investment. Steel carports kits can also be made with different colors as well which typically fade much less if at all over time versus aluminum which often does not keep the color integrity as well. The fact is there are different alloys and metal combinations that can make aluminum stronger then steel and vice versa, but in terms of carports, galvanized all steel carports generally have a better price to performance ration then there aluminum counterparts.

Steel carports are the heaviest of the bunch so be sure that the spot where your building the steel carport is solid and can hold the carport because unstable muddy ground would simply lead to a lopsided and poorly stabilized carport. Make sure your steel components have at least zinc or other anti corrosive materials so that your carport receives minimal weather based wear and tear. Price can always vary from a thousand or so dollars to many thousands for multi car style carports to the very large steel carports that are made to house RV’s, Trailers, and other large valuable equipment. Seeing how expensive these can be make sure you ask your reseller or distributer about financing and warranty costs as these can make the difference between you owning a quality steel carport and not. There is a basic checklist I recommend you go down before making you final purchase, and some of these would include things like,

Do I need a permit? Is it possible to get a basic model and have additions like sides made later? Who will be doing the installation? if not yourself Can it be attached, or do you have options for attachment to buildings? Do they provide rain gutters for any or all of the models? What are the payment options, including financing? And what is the return and refund policies?

Metal Carport Kits

Carports

General Information

aluminum carport kits

canopy carport kits

carport

Carport Kits

carports kits

metal carport kits

steel carport kits
<guid

Often these kits can be had for 10% and often up to 15% off or more from the retail price and for some can mean the difference between having the carports you want versus the ones you may not. Now keep in mind that typically a manufacturer and reseller do not send instructions for assembly so be sure you are comfortable with assembly in general and have at the very least a basic set of tools to help with the construction of the carport.

This isn’t to say all carport kits are without instructions but keep it in the back of your mind at least to ask for instructions and don’t assume anything, it can make for what should be a job that lasts from a day or two to something much longer then it needs to be. You will also have to decide if you have the time as well to assemble this, if you are using this for business you are likely better off to not purchase a kit or at least have it assembled for you to save time so you can put it to use quickly. If this is not for business, you have the luxury of time on your side and for that kind of customer a carport kit, steel carport kits, canopy carport kits, aluminum carport kits, can be an ideal to save some cash.

Be sure to take note that there is a difference between portable carports and carports kits, portable carports by their nature are kits or do it yourself style carports, but a “carport kit” is an un assembled traditional carport meant to not be moved around so make sure you don’t confuse the two when browsing sites and stores for your purchase or purchases. As always make sure you do your due diligence in your research and make sure you get structural ratings for the materials and finished product because you would not want to go through all that trouble of assembling your carport to find out it is not the right fit, size, or quality you were looking for and then having to disassemble it later to return it to the manufacturer or reseller. And as a last note, always ask about warranties for your product.
