Assembling livable space within a metal building can offer a number of different benefits to a homeowner or business, not the least of which is being within the same space or very near the space of a potential work area or storage area. These livable spaces can also serve other functions, functions that are particularly beneficial for large metal structures such as entertaining areas as well as elaborate or well furnished kitchen areas.

What are the Benefits and Features of “Livable” Metal Buildings?

Typically, the dimensions of most metal buildings plans with living quarters that allow for these kind of spaces will have high ceilings and other options for different types of feelings such as vaulted ceilings in particular areas of the little space. These types of structures can be appealing to a wide variety of potential future home owners, if you design and build your space that can be used for multiple purposes and appeal to multiple different types of tastes. By doing this, you can get a substantial return on your investment when you go to sell your home along with the metal structure, or the metal building purely by itself. You can also use these spaces as non commercial working areas otherwise known as metal shop buildings with living quarters, the possibilities are endless!

A Basic Step-by-Step Guide to Constructing your Metal Building with Livable Quarters

Step 1: The first thing you will need to do is to purchase or borrow some manuals and guidebooks for assembling a metal building with living quarters. Be sure to visit your local town authorities and governmental bodies so that you can find out what your particular areas building codes and restrictions might be for either completely building or remodeling a metal building that also serves as a living area in certain sections. They can also help you get the permits and necessary legal documentation to allow you to proceed with your project without any legal issues. You need to communicate to them that this is not going to be a commercial property, but a residential one if you’re going to be building this on your home property.

Step 2: Your next step is to decide what materials to use for your construction, which will vary depending on the metal building with living quarters plans. You will want to use installation that has a high “R-value” in the roof areas and walls of your livable spaces (and even the “work” areas). This is so that your metal building has the optimum amount of energy and thermal efficiency in terms of heating and cooling. This is particularly an issue for the warmer months as the summer heat will likely be readily absorbed by non reflective metal. Next you will want to frame all of your livable spaces with 2 x 4″ pieces of lumber board once you’ve decided on the actual interior layout. If you want to, you can also leave some of the metal rafters exposed if you prefer that aesthetic appearance.

Step 3: The next part of this process involves something most livable structures have to have, drywall. Go ahead and add drywall throughout the entire building so that you can enclose the various rooms within your structure. He will then want to install electrical wiring and all the plumbing lines before you enclose all of the walls completely with drywall. At this point you can also opt to add certain touches and amenities such as a doorbell, and alarm system, or even different types of lighting such as recessed lighting for example. After you’re done putting the final touches on these features, finish up your drywall and paint it before you install any kitchen fixtures and appliances, as well as equivalent features of a bathroom area.

Step 4: You are almost done, but there are a few more things that need to be done. After you finish with all of the interior trim and drywall, you will also want to make sure the crown molding baseboards are also properly set up. This point you can choose to add the doors to your various rooms such as closet doors and interior doors and also any type of shelving, cabinetry, and work areas you may need. Be sure to use plastic coated wire shelving in the walk-in closets and any areas that might be used for pantry.

Step 5: Our final few steps involve the finishing touches for your metal building. The next step on your buildings with living quarters floor plans should be to install your hardwood flooring. You can also choose to tile over your concrete and add any carpeting to the bedrooms and living spaces you feel needs it, this is mostly a matter of taste and personal preference. For areas that you might be using for more work-related reasons, you might want to leave the concrete flooring as is for utilitarian reasons. You’re all set!

Pop Up Gazebo

Gazebos

Cheap Pop Up Gazebo

Heavy Duty Pop Up Gazebo

Pop Up Gazebo with Side Panels

Pop Up Gazebo with Sides

Pop Up Gazebos

Pop Up Gazebos for Sale

Waterproof Pop Up Gazebo
<guid

This uses specially the case is you might be considering going with a portable carport for example, while carports are fantastic for a number of situations, they tend to be a bit more expensive and a bit more unwieldy compared to durable and cheap pop up gazebos.

A pop up gazebo essentially functions much like a traditional umbrella, where the top of the umbrella-which is the covering, can be opened and collapsed within one basic movement. These types of gazebos operate much in the same fashion and can be assembled usually with one or two people tops, particularly if you bought a model that is fairly lightweight. Do keep in mind however, that many stores and online retailers also offer heavy duty pop up gazebo options as well, these can be handy if you know you are going to be using them in more rugged settings like going camping for example.

Speaking of camping, it is one the most common types of venues where these gazebos are typically used, and as such, you might need to consider getting a gazebo with a number of different accessories or features beyond making sure that is both durable and lightweight enough for the trip. One of the first things you will have to consider is whether you will get a pop up gazebo with sides, which you will definitely want to make sure that you have if you intend to use your gazebo for sleeping or living in for an extended period of time much like a tent. Keep in mind that not every model is a pop up pop up gazebo with side panels, and many manufacturers do not make these panels standard so that they can offer the gazebo at a more affordable price. Thankfully, many of these gazebos can have the side panels put on later, but you will usually spend more if you choose to go this route instead of buying the entire package the first time.

Regardless of whether you are looking for a standard gazebo without any bells and whistles, or you are looking for something more specific like a waterproof pop up gazebo, you can typically find pop up gazebos for sale at retail and on the Internet. Many big-box retailers like Wal-Mart, Target, and Costco will carry these types of gazebos for a very affordable and competitive price ranging anywhere between $50 for a simple open air gazebo all the way up to $300 or more for a more elaborate and larger models that will typically come with side panels and other features like waterproofing and awnings that extend over the entrance way.

Tri State Carports

Carport Manufacturers and Companies

Carports

Tri State Carport

Tri State Carports Inc

Tristate Carport

Tristate Carports
<guid

Carports can be a fairly expensive and complicated purchase, but thankfully there are a number of fantastic and reputable carport wholesalers, particularly on the internet where you can find a large variety of models to choose from, as well as plenty of reasonable pricing options.

Tri State Carports Inc is based out of the Cana, Virginia area, and has grown from a fairly small and modest three-person operation which was founded in 1998 all the way to a fully staffed and experienced carport reseller offering the latest and greatest in carport and other metal structures. Not only do they have extremely helpful and experienced sales representatives can help you figure out what type of car port may be a pro great for your needs, but they are also capable of getting your carport installed for you via some of their experienced installation crew members.

The Tristate Carport company has a number of different shoes that are available to you, but most people typically end up going with metal carports of some sort. These carports can usually be made of two different types of metal, the two most common types are aluminum and steel. Typically aluminum carports are more affordable, but they tend not to be nearly as durable or long lasting as their steel equivalents. If you find that you want to get the very best in protection for your vehicles or equipment, you might want to consider going with some of their galvanized steel carports which not only last a long time but also offer advanced protection against extreme weather.

Tristate carports also has a number of local dealers as well, and will often work with many other privately owned carport selling businesses. Some of the basic questions you might have can be answered by their trained staff, and one of the most common is what might be the best location for the structure? What they will tell you is that the products are typically best install on square and flat surfaces, but things like building permits and site preparation are the responsibility of the customer themselves. Keep in mind that most of their carports can be installed within a few hours give or take, but if you are building a larger structure, it may take up to two or three days depending on the size and complexity of the structure itself, so be sure to go over this with Tri State Carports staff before making any final purchases. Free standing carports in particular are handy to the fact they do not require being attached to a home or equivalent business structure for them to be of use or to be installed. You can usually find free standing carport kits that come in both steel packages as well as aluminum and there are advantages to going with either one depending on your particular needs and the environment in which the carport will be set up.

Free standing carport designs come in a variety of different materials as well as different styles and vehicle accommodations as well, but by far the most practical and longest lasting option are free standing metal carport models. If you’re looking to spend a bit less, and you find that you may not need the additional durability of steel, going with aluminum just might be the best option for you. This is because aluminum is not only lighter weight, but it tends to be much more affordable than its steel counterparts.

However, if you do decide to go with steel, you want to make sure that you have the proper foundation and room for your steel carport by checking with local contractors in zoning permit authorities. Steel tends to be much heavier so you’ll want to make sure that your free standing carport plans take this into account. When it comes to purchasing this particular kind of carport, you also the option to go with more portable options like free standing plastic carports were heavy duty canopies, these are particularly handy for those of you who don’t have the need or finances to support a metal free standing carport. These types of canopies and carports are particularly handy for outdoor events and flea markets.

There are a number of different options when it comes to the places that you can actually purchase these carports, as free standing carport designs are typically the most commonly purchased of the bunch. Our suggestion is to make sure that you not only check out all of your local vendors and retailers, but that you check out some of the online vendors and wholesalers as well who can typically offer the same competitive prices but also give you greater variety than you would find in a traditional brick and mortar store.

Carport Parts

General Information

aluminum carport parts

carport auto parts

carport parts

carport replacement parts

metal carport parts
<guid

They add much needed shelter for geographical areas that have harsh seasons. Protecting your vehicle is important and a carport can help you do that. The money you spend on a carport is well worth the lack of wear and tear to your vehicle. There are a variety of carport models to choose from. Carports come preassembled and can be purchased at local stores or on-line and shipped nationwide. Those that are looking for a do it yourself project can choose their own model and purchase a kit that will help them build their own carport from the directions.

Choosing the right carport for you requires some research. Carport parts vary in terms of the materials used to make them. You will want to purchase carport parts much like you purchase auto parts. Looking for makes and models that is easy to assemble and easy to get carport replacement parts in the event that you might need to do this down the line.

Metal carport parts are the most common for those who look to do it themselves. Steel carports are particularly durable and reliable. Most metal carport kits offer warranties that cover them for years. Aluminum carport parts are also a durable choice. Typically, these metals offer protection far beyond that of canvas or plastic. Metal and aluminum is not at risk of fading, rotting being attached by wind or damaged by snow. An added benefit is that metal and aluminum does not get eaten by insects or animals like wood or canvas may. Canvas or plastic may be a fine alternative for some areas but those looking for carport auto parts that will last a lifetime with a guarantee to match will be pleased with a choice of metal or aluminum.

Metal acts as a natural barrier to the elements and provides lasting protection and durability for your vehicle. Metal is a good choice for hot sunny climates or frigid cold climates. Metal is the strongest protection that is available against harsh element. Metal kits offer easy construction and assembly. Simple instructions and minimal parts allow these to be put tougher easily with nothing but a standard drill and a set of very user friendly instructions. You can decide to purchase a kit and do it yourself or order your metal carport or aluminum carports from the array of reputable manufacturers available that carry these like eagle carports for example. A carport is a great long term investment that will protect your car for years to come.

Carport Dimensions

General Information

2 car carport dimensions

carport dimension

carport dimensions

double carport dimensions
<guid

Double carport dimensions for two cars or trucks are around double the above quoted width. 24 feet by 24 feet is typical. There is a few interesting designs on the market that include a dome model that accommodates three cars and has space in back of the cars for a workshop.

This design starts out at about a 30 foot diameter. They get bigger than this too! To figure out the appropriate carport dimension to suit your needs you must decide on how you will use the carport. If it is to protect your daily driver then you should include a reasonable amount of space on either side of the car or cars to allow for the doors to swing open freely. It is no fun banging doors every time you get into the car.

Do you want extra space for working or storing other items? If extra space is necessary than the measurements should be added to the overall dimensions that you figured for the original purposes. Check with the manufacturer if you plan on pouring a concrete pad. The measurement of the pad is critical and can effect installation if you are opting for a kit or prefabricated model. A 2 car carport dimensions will be a minimum of 24 feet. You can make it as big as you like, the bigger the better.

The extra space can always be used for something, and the extra space will provide a better protection. An open design has limited ability to protect from wind driven rain and this is why people often choose to install wall panels. A wall panel will give you better protection, privacy, and a bit more protection against thieves and hooliganism. Custom designs can really be made to whatever specifications your situation requires. A good builder or manufacturer will work with you to meet your needs. Do not be afraid to shop around a bit. It is possible to bargain and it is a good idea to inform a manufacturer’s salesperson that another business offers a better deal for something similar. This gives the salesperson the chance to show you how his product is better. Perhaps he will even cut you a deal just to get your business. A tough economy is a buyer’s delight. If you have the means use it to your advantage.

Carport Drawings

General Information

carport drawing

carport drawings

metal carport drawings
<guid

Before your house was built it needed a drawing of what it would eventually look like, which is exactly the same with a carport. Even though a carport may not be as big as a house, it is important to remember that the job at hand is still a complex and large one. It will still need to meet the construction requirements that are issued by the local building authority in your area.

When it comes to types of carport drawings, there are many options to consider before deciding on what avenue you want to take. Below are some common ways to obtain a carport drawing:

Prefabricated – You may want to construct your carport that is already prefabricated. This is often the usual route that many take, as the manufacturer has already pre cut the pieces that need to be constructed. All the home owner will need to do once they have purchased the prefab carport, is to simply read the instructions that come with the pack and simple put the pieces together. However, when you are considering a prefabricated drawing, you should be able to obtain a set of drawings for free.

Professional – However if you want a carport that is different from the standard designs then you will need to bring on board an architect who will design what you want for you. Even though this means you are guaranteed an original carport you can be expected to also pay more for this, as they are generally more expensive.

Construction Company – If you are able to do some thorough research you may be able to find a construction company that will not only build your carport, but will also draw you the metal carport drawings, if you want a metal carport, for you in one complete price. It is important that before you decide on this route to check out the types of drawings and designs the builder has done beforehand. This way you can see if you want to follow this path for your own carport.

Home Handyman – Of course, if you prefer you can also draw up your own plans for the type of carport that you are after. However before jumping into this you should first check with your local building authority to make sure that you know what issues need to be covered and that you have covered them all.

From the above it is easy to see the possible routes that a person can undertake when they want carport drawings. Depending on what you want from your design, some may cost more than others, but you can be expected to pay for a drawing no matter what. These drawings help to determine if you like what you see on paper before realising too late when it has been constructed on the ground. Always talk to a professional who can help you with any questions and queries you have, as well as provide you with some quotes.

Two Car Carport

Carports

two car carport

two car carport plans

two car carports
<guid

These carports are constructed with the same type of materials as the single carports, but are designed to be extra wide. This is an advantage for people that have more than one vehicle they need to house. It also works if you have one car and another type of vehicle such as a boat that you would like to shelter.

Two car carports are also large enough to accommodate an RV or large machinery. If you live on a farm where you use a lot of different types of machinery, but do not have the storage space to house them all you can look into getting one of the wider carports for your machinery. You can find the units as kits that you can assemble yourself, or you can have them professionally installed. You can also find retailers of carports that will custom design one for your specific needs.

If you are considering having a carport custom made you will want to make sure you go over the two car carport plans before any construction begins. This is important because the materials used can vary and there is a big difference between constructing a metal carport and a wooden one. You also have your choice of coverings to use as the roof. You can choose an awning type of roof, a metal roof or even a gabled one to match the roof style of your home.

The structure’s base can also differ in the type of material used. You can choose a standard metal base as the foundation for the cover or you can use wood as a constructed unit that would be similar to what your home looks like. Choosing the wood structure for a carport is popular because it blends in better with most styles of residential homes and businesses. There are also other items to consider when designing your two car carport such as the type of lighting you want to use. You can have regular lighting installed in the carport itself, however this should be done professionally as there needs to be the proper wiring equipment for the lighting to work. Choosing a good quality carport to house, your vehicles will not only provide shelter for your cars, but can also enhance the overall look and value of your home.

Stand Alone Carports

Carports

stand alone carport

stand alone carports

stand alone metal carport
<guid

Instead of letting these pile outside causing an unsightly mess, you might want to consider the benefits of a stand alone carport. While many people use these carports for storage for vehicles, there are many varieties of stand alone metal carport, which can be used for item storage as well. Since leaving your lawn mower, weed whacker, and leaf blower out in the weather could have a bad effect on them and render them almost unusable, you should definitely have a sound storage plan for them.

Even if you are not planning on using the stand alone carport as storage for your tools, they are invaluable when it comes to protecting your vehicle from the elements as well. Stand alone carport kits contain everything you need in order to provide shelter for your vehicle, so all you will need are the tools to put it together. These stand alone carports can be moved if you desire, or you can choose to anchor them into the ground with concrete.

Before deciding on a stand alone carport for your vehicle, you should consider a few things. The first of these is bad weather. If you live in a location that frequently has problems such as tornadoes and other high winds, you might want to seek another solution for your carport needs. This is because these carports are often the first things to go in bad weather, even if they have been anchored into the ground with concrete. Another less commonly known weather effect, which could have a severe impact on your carport, is ice and snow.

If you live in an area which frequently gets lots of ice and snow, this type of carport might not be best for you as huge amounts of ice and snow can cause them to falter or buckle, or even a tree could fall on top of them, ruining them. While this is a risk you run anywhere you have a carport, using one in an environment with severe weather is not recommended. Stand alone carports are a great option for anyone who wants extra storage for their vehicles, or who would like to protect their vehicle from the elements. They are also a very affordable option when compared to the cost of building a full fledged garage to house your vehicle.
